Installation ‘Earth’ by XerXa
In a vault one stores objects that need protection.
What needs protection now especially from humans is the earth itself.
We should act as guardians, not as destructors..
In this vault I made 2 installations in the small side chambers, one with the letters
‘Just Be Kind’ written in earth on the floor surrounded by clay ‘hurray’ goddesses surrounding it. These goddess figures where found at Delphi in Greece where the ‘Omphalos’ – the navel of the world, as one of the oracle places, used to be.
In dutch it translates as ‘Wees Aardig’.
In the other side chamber there is a dead tree upside down, its cut off roots are in the air and its balance is formed by a gold nugget underneath one of its dead branches.
If you take the gold nugget away, the tree will fall.
The installation is called A-greed.
